Three Phases

of Training

1. Preparing for Independence: Executive functioning, daily routines, health, safety, and self-care.

2. Building Autonomy: Communication, self-advocacy, money management, and adult responsibilities.

3. Finding Direction: Emotional regulation, job readiness, transportation, housing, and future planning.

Two Participation

Options

—

• Option A — Parent + Teen Partnership: Parents and teens work together to develop independence, establish expectations, and prepare for adulthood.
• Option B — Independent Young Adult: Older teens and young adults participate independently, taking ownership of their goals and future.
